Leo Messi: "It was very important to start winning, it was the place we chose as a family"

Lionel Messi had a dream debut in his new adventure in US soccer, in front of celebrities like the Beckham family, Serena Williams, LeBron James, Kim Kardashian, Sergio 'Kun' Agüero, Karol G, and many others with a last-minute victory.

After the match, Leo had an interview on tv where he spoke of the joy he feels in Miami and how important it was to win after the team had a winless streak of 11 games in the current MLS tournament and is at the bottom of the Eastern Conference: "It was a very good game for us, we wanted to start like this, giving a victory to our people".

We want to thank all these people. It was very important for us to start winning this championship, and we are very happy.

Messi made his goal look easy

Messi explained "I had the last one, I tried as I always do. Luckily it went through and into the net, the goalkeeper didn't get there and it's a huge joy after so long and because of the way we've been going. We had to start winning to gain confidence, even if it is another championship".

While on the decision to live in Miami, Leo simply explained that he feels: "very happy to be here, it is the place we chose with my family. I thank the people again, and I hope they continue to join us throughout the year".

Leo Messi dedicated the match to his teammate Ian Fray, who left the game due to injury, amid the concern of his teammates: "I want to dedicate the victory to Ian who was suffering in the locker room because of the injury. He is a very young guy who already suffered two serious injuries and I hope he recovers once again."

Leo began his MLS adventure in the 53rd minute to a standing ovation at the DRV PNK Stadium, which was filled with fans and celebrities, who erupted with his masterful left-footed shot into the top corner of Andres Gudiño's net. In celebration, Leo ran to one of the side stands, where he embraced his children.
