Inter Miami and Messi fans will be gutted to know that the Argentinian star is not even of the team sheet for tonight's US Open Cup Final against Houston Dynamo (8:30 pm ET). The injury setback Lionel Messi suffered against Toronto FC in an MLS game last Wednesday proved to be too much to overcome.
The news was dropped shortly before the game by the official US Open Cup social media account. Messi and his family, however, will watch the game from the stands at DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale. Due to his past participation in the tournament, if Inter Miami were to lift the cup, the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup Trophy would count towards Messi incredible record-setting silverware cabinet.

Fans were shocked upon seeing Lionel Messi not deboarding the Inter Miami bus at DRV PNK Stadium. Reactions were, naturally, overall negative. One fan shared he traveled all the way from Dallas for the game: "Travelled 1300 miles to see Messi and bro ain't even show up. Nasty work".
Messi was seen arriving at the game in street clothes. He arrived in a white SUV and was seen entering the stadium with his bodyguard.
