Anthony Joshua might get a title shot without having to fight Tyson Fury or Oleksandr Usyk

Both Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk have agreed to fight in order to become the first undisputed champion since Lennox Lewis. But the outcome of this deal is that Anthony Joshua will get a shot at a title without even having to fight any of these two.

Mike Coppinger reports that the IBF have decided that Filip Hrgovic will get a world title shot against the next available contender in the rankings if Fury and Usyk agree on a rematch. Currently, AJ is No. 2 in the rankings and he will face undefeated Hrgovic for the belt. This is the chance that will give Anthony Joshua a shot to win the belt without facing the best in the division. But this scenario can only happen under one single condition.

Usyk needs to fight Fury in a rematch

What ever the outcome may be in the first fight, Oleksandr Usyk needs to agree to fight Tyson Fury in a rematch. If this doesn't happen, the winner of this fight will be the one who has a mandatory fight against Hrgovic. This would be a major break for Anthony Joshua to get his hands in another belt after losing twice to Oleksandr Usyk by getting completely outboxed. Also, a fight against Tyson Fury has only been teased but none of the two promotions have reached any kind of agreement.

We will have to wait and see what both Usyk and Fury decide after they fight each other. Anthony Joshua will be waiting to see what happens and then move forward with the fight he will have.

Meanwhile, promoter Eddie Hearn has already revealed that the fight between Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder is currently in jeopardy.

The latest information was that the negotiations were shut down but there still remains a hope they may fight on the same night as Fury and Usyk's bout takes place in December 23. But Hearn also ademitted that this potential fight could happen early in 2024 after talks with Wilder's promotion were stalled for a bit. All both sides need is to reach a monetary agreement but both side want this fight to happen.
