Clip resurfaces of little Patrick Mahomes in Mets jersey batting with dad during World Series

During its Sunday Night Football broadcast of the Kansas City Chiefs at New York Jets, NBC showed a clip of four-year-old Patrick Mahomes II wearing a Mets jersey while batting with his father, Patrick Mahomes Sr., during the 2000 MLB World Series.

The broadcast announcers mentioned how young Patrick was hitting the balls really far and they were often landing by the camera crew, which was forced to bring protection the following game.

NBC's purpose when showing the clip was to mention how Patrick lived in New York as a young boy when his father made it to the World Series as part of the Mets.

Mahomes, 28, went on to throw his first interception of the night right after NBC showed the clip, leading some fans on social media to claim the Mets' bad luck rubbed off on him.

During that World Series run, young Mahomes was also seen catching flyballs, but this time with his father's teammates.

Little Patrick Mahomes meets Derek Jeter

Mahomes also met New York Yankees legend Derek Jeter while accompanying his father to another MLB game.

Jeter, 49, recently met up with Mahomes and was carrying an autographed picture of their meeting years prior, which he had gifted to little Patrick.

Mahomes was a good enough pitcher to follow his father's footsteps in the MLB, but decided to focus his attention on football.

The reigning league MVP is a two-time Super Bowl champion and doesn't look like he's stopping his momentum anytime soon.
