Ezekiel Elliott reveals 'threat' to Patriots kicker after game-winning field goal

Patriots running back Ezekiel Elliott was delighted after his team beat the Denver Broncos (26-23) on Sunday night. The Christmas eve matchup at Empower Field in Denver, CO, served to deliver a near fatal blow to the Broncos' playoff hopes and give the 4-11 a needed moral boost.

The win was made possible by rookie Chad Ryland's last-second 56-yard field goal. The decision to use a fourth round pick by Bill Belichick in the 2023 NFL Draft on the kicker had been heavily criticized this season, given the Patriots' shortcomings and Ryland's struggles coming into the game (65% with 13 of 20 field goals, a league low).

But week 16 gave Ryland the ultimate moment to shine. Speaking to media after the game, Elliott revealed what he told the rookie after the big moment: "I got a lot of respect for Chad (Ryland). I joked with him after he made that long one, I said 'hey if you didn't make that one, I'd have to break my foot off in your behind' - all jokes".

Zeke Elliott had a good night himself, hurdling nickel back Ja'Quan McMillian on his way into the end zone for his 1 TD of the night.

"A lot of DBs, when they see a big guy in the open field they're going to try to go low," Elliott said. "I had a feeling they were going to go low and I knew if I got over this guy I had a good chance to score."
