Champions League Final Preview: PSG and Inter Clash in Munich
Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan will face off in the UEFA Champions League final on Saturday at Munich’s Allianz Arena, with both clubs hungry to erase past heartbreaks on Europe’s biggest stage.
Inter Milan returns to the final just one year after a narrow defeat to Manchester City in 2023, while PSG seeks redemption after falling to Bayern Munich in its only previous final appearance in 2020. For both sides, the match represents a shot at long-awaited continental glory.
Inter’s hopes of a treble evaporated in recent weeks. The Nerazzurri narrowly missed out on the Serie A title by a single point and were eliminated from the Italian Cup in the semifinals. Now, the Champions League remains their sole shot at silverware this season.
“These players have achieved a lot over the last four years — we've won and we've lost, which is part of the game. But we’ve always given our all,” said Inter coach Simone Inzaghi. “I dreamed of playing in a Champions League final as a player. I didn’t make it then, but thanks to this team, I’ve reached two finals as a coach.”
Inter has lifted the European Cup three times, most recently in 2010.
Kickoff Time
The final is set to kick off at 9 p.m. local time (1900 GMT) at Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena.
For PSG, this match marks another chance to finally secure the Champions League trophy that has eluded them despite heavy investment and star-studded squads in recent years. The departures of Neymar, Lionel Messi, and Kylian Mbappé marked the end of an era, but under coach Luis Enrique, a fresh and exciting lineup has emerged.
Led by the likes of Ousmane Dembélé, Desire Doué, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, PSG has rebuilt with dynamism and ambition. Enrique, who previously won the Champions League with Barcelona in 2015, could become just the seventh manager to win the competition with two different clubs.
“My motivation is clear — to win PSG’s first Champions League title,” Enrique said. “That would be my gift to the fans, to the club, and to the city of Paris.”
