Andre Ward vs. Sergey Kovalev II: Rematch ends controversially

Light Heavyweight World Champion Andre Ward won the second duel with challenger Sergey Kovalev, defending his title.

The 33-year-old Ward won by Technical K.O. in the eighth round.

However, this time it was a controversial verdict, in which among other, low blows played a role.

In front of 10,592 spectators at the Mandala Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, the long-stretched fight ended more spectacularly than the first fight on 19 November 2016. The referee Tony Weeks ended the fight in the eighth round after Ward landed several hard punches and Kovalev landed on the ropes.
