Romanian rowers take the win at the 2018 European Rowing Championships


Romania has won the European Championships in rowing. The Romanian boat around Ioana Vrânceanu, Viviana-Iuliana Bejinariu, Adriana Ailincăi, Maria Tivodariu, Beatrice-Mădălina Parfenie, Iuliana Popa, Mădălina Bereş, Denisa Tîlvescu and Daniela Druncea dominated the 2,000-meter race from the start and reached the finish in 6 : 08: 98 minutes. Behind them the hosts (6: 10.09 min.) secured silver ahead of the Netherlands (6: 10.78).

Overall, the Romanian rowers and rowers won three gold, two silver and two bronze medals and thus achieved the first place in the medal table of the European Rowing Championships. Two more gold medals were won by the men's doubles. The men's eighth were beaten in the final by the German and Dutch boats and had to settle for bronze. The second bronze medal was won by Marius-Vasile Cozmiuc Ciprian Tudosă.

Already at the European Rowing Championships 2017 in Racice u Stetí (Czech Republic), the Romanian national team won three gold and one silver medal.
