Copa Libertadores: River Plate beats Boca Juniors in Madrid

River Plate Buenos Aires has won the Copa Libertadores for the fourth time. In the final second leg in Spanish Madrid, the team won on Sunday (09.12.2018) the city duel against arch-rival Boca Juniors after a 2-2 in the first leg 3-1 (1-1, 0-1) after extra time.

After attacks on the Boca bus in front of the planned November 24 at River Plate Stadium "El Monumental" the second leg had been relocated to Madrid for security reasons.

80,000 fansfrom both camps created a heated atmosphere at the Estadio Bernabeu. In the end River Plate cheered thanks to goals from Juan Quintero (108) and Gonzalo Martinez (120 + 2). In the regular season Boca was led by Dario Benedetto (44) in the lead, Lucas Pratto scored the equalizer (68). Boca remained in extra time outnumbered after a yellow-red card for Wilmar Barrios (92nd).

With the victory of River Plate under the eyes of superstar Lionel Messi one of the most memorable, but also the most embarrassing finals of the Copa history came to an end.
