Dovizioso wins MotoGP opening in Qatar

The first winner of the new MotoGP season is Andrea Dovizioso. The Italian wins on his Ducati the opening of the premier class in Qatar in front of the two Honda pilots Marc Marquez (ESP) and Cal Crutchlow (GBR).

Dovizioso had started from the pole and under floodlights until the last corner had a hard fight with Marquez, who had also led twice. For the double vice-world champion Dovizioso it was the 22nd overall GP victory, the 13th in MotoGP.

The decision was only in the final sprint, in the end Dovizioso has only 0.023 seconds ahead.

Valentino Rossi started from 14th and finished fifth place. The Spaniard Pol Espargaro is twelfth as the best KTM rider.
