Newcastle United plan massive Serie A transfer raid

With Newcastle United set to cause shockwaves in the transfer market over the coming years, the Tyneside club have set their sights on a plethora of Serie A stars as they begin their Saudi revolution.

The Magpies were recently acquired by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund who have wealth in excess of 350 billion euros, and Newcastle are ready to flash some of that cash as they reinvent their squad.

A figure of 250m euros is all the Magpies will be able to spend so they don't break Premier League financial rules, but it is widely expected that Newcastle will be able to flash the cash in a similar way to Manchester City or Paris Saint-Germain.

According to Tuttosport, Newcastle are eyeing targets in Italy with Serie A being deemed a particularly convenient place to do business as the Italian top flight teams do not have the resources to compete with the richest teams in Europe at the minute.

Aaron Ramsey is one player who has been linked to Newcastle, and Juventus would be in favour of letting the Welshman go in January for a nominal fee given he arrived in Turin on a free transfer three years ago. The Bianconeri would also save seven million euros on his salary.

Juventus pair Federico Chiesa and Matthijs de Ligt are also said to be high on Newcastle's wishlist, but the Bianconeri are much less inclined to let the two young stars leave the Allianz Stadium.

Over in Milan, Newcastle are also keeping tabs on the contract situation of Franck Kessie at AC Milan. The Ivorian is out of contract in June 2022 and has yet to agree terms on a new deal.

Meanwhile, Inter defender Stefan de Vrij and midfielder Marcelo Brozovic are both touted as potential targets for Newcastle as well.
