Evra goes from criticising Messi to predicting he'll win another Ballon d'Or

This Monday, November 29, we will find out the winner of the 2021 Ballon d'Or award, with Lionel Messi, Karim Benzema, Cristiano Ronaldo and Robert Lewandowski among the favourites.

Patrice Evra, however, previously stated that he would not be impressed if Messi wins the title for the seventh time in his career.

"In my opinion this Ballon d'Or is for [N'Golo] Kante or Jorginho... I'm sick of giving it to Messi," Evra told ESPN last month.

"What did he win last year? Okay, the Copa America [with Argentina]. With Barcelona, what did he do?"

This Sunday, though, Evra took to social media to reveal that he believes Messi has won this year's prize.

"Congratulations to Leo Messi for winning another Ballon d'Or," the Frenchman wrote on his Instagram account, perhaps a little tongue-in-cheek.
