Ja Morant leaves the Grizzlies-Hawks game with an apparent knee injury
Ja Morant must have some type of connection with Zion Williamson and injuries as both of them make the headlines almost simultaneously. Earlier on Friday, the New Orleans Pelicans star was cleared to return to full activity with his team after suffering an injury that kept him away since last summer. Only a few hours later, Ja Morant suffered what appears to be a nasty knee injury that he picked up during the Memphis Grizzlies' game against Atlanta Hawks. It happened so quickly that anybody can miss it even in the replay, but the motion of Ja's leg seemed unnatural in slow motion.
As soon as he felt the knock, he immediately fell to the ground and he even needed assistance to leave the court at Fedex Forum. Pending further exploration of the injury, it did seem like something serious that could be detrimental for Memphis this season. Before today's game, Grizzlies were 9-9 against a Hawks team with a similar record of 10-9. But Morant's early exit from the game during the first quarter was very impactful to his teammates. Ja is considered one of the best young players in the NBA today and not having him around would hurt any true fan od the sport. Hopefully his injury is not as serious as it seemed on the images we are sharing here.
Hawk's take advantage of Ja Morant's absence.
This early exit due to injury is exactly what the Atlanta Hawks needed in order to go after the result this evening. At the start of the fourth quarter, the visitors were already 30+ points ahead of Memphis with Ja already watching from the court seats. Over the next few hours, the Grizzlies point guard will undergo the proper tests to determine how serious his injury truly is. All Memphis fans are praying it's not something to worry about and we can all keep enjoying his magic on court. This season has been great on a personal level for Morant despite his team's ups and downs in terms of results.
