LeBron James: For how many games will he be suspended?
LeBron James' terrible elbow on Isaiah Stewart in the third quarter of the game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Detroit Pistons will have consequences, both players will certainly be suspended.
For general interest purposes we are going to focus on the suspension coming to the "King", whose action looks completely deliberate, it is likely that the elbow was not intended to hit Stewart's eye but that should be absolutely irrelevant when the NBA office judges the play, the important thing is that it was a violent and completely deliberate hit.
Coming off an injury
We know that LeBron James is coming off an injury that cost them two weeks of activity and that it is not in the league's best interest to have its most popular player out of the court for a long time, so we can predict that the suspension will be very long.
If we take as a reference the 2015 playoff game between the Cleveland Cavaliers (where LeBron James played) and the Boston Celtics, on that occasion J.R. Smith was suspended two games for hitting Jay Crowder.
Surely that's where the punishment can go, two or maximum three games.
In the opinion of this writer that criterion is too lax, the risk of a serious injury to Stewart should be taken into account whoever makes the hit, we will see what the NBA decides.
This is the second ejection in the career of LeBron James, who until today was not known for being a violent player, this could damage that legacy.
It will be a costly absence
The Lakers need LeBron as prior to the win they got in the game against the Detroit Pistons, they had lost three games in a row.
The next game of the Los Angeles Lakers will be next Tuesday at Madison Square Garden against the New York Knicks and the only visit of the "King" to the most famous court in the NBA will not be possible.
We will have to wait for news soon.
