The latest recital from Real Madrid's 'three tenors'
Despite Real Madrid's attempts to beef up their midfield over the years, the trident of Casemiro, Luka Modric and Toni Kroos have established themselves in the starting line-up time and time again, with an in-form Isco the only player who managed to sneak in the first XI in the past.
Martin Odegaard, Dani Ceballos, Fede Valverde and Eduardo Camavinga have all tried to earn a spot in the midfield, but failed to permanently break up Los Blancos' formidable trident.
Casemiro, Modric and Kroos were extraordinary again on Sunday, this time in Real Madrid's 4-1 win against Granada at Nuevo Estadio de Los Carmenes.
The German dictated the tempo in midfield and produced two assists, while Modric combined well with Karim Benzema and Vinicius for Real Madrid's third, before Casemiro teed up Ferland Mendy for their fourth goal.
Their performance even forced Carlo Ancelotti to promise Real Madrid fans that he will not try to alter the team's midfield trident.
"Casemiro, Kroos and Modric do things that I don't even ask them to do," said Ancelotti.
"But Real Madrid fans should be calm, I am not going to get involved there."
