Vinicius Jr: The contract I have is from when I was 16, of course I want to renew

Tite not selecting him for the Brazilian national squad was a disappointment, but Vinicius Jr is simply focusing on continuing to improve at Real Madrid, and the forward has admitted that he wants to renew with the Spanish giants.

He is currently one of the most in-form footballers in world football right now and Los Blancos are finally starting to see him reach his vast potential, although the player has no interest in the drama which usually arrives with contract negotiations, he just wants to stay in Madrid.

"Of course I want to renew," Vinicius Jr told TNT Brazil.

"I want to stay here for a long time, but I am very calm with all that, all at the right time.

"The contract I have is still the one from when I was 16, it doesn't matter when I'm going to renew, how much I'm going to earn, what matters is the satisfaction of being at the best team in the world."

Real Madrid are acutely aware that Vinicius Jr's next renewal will be a huge one, although he is currently contracted to the club until 2025 with one of the lowest salaries in the first-team squad.

If they really wanted to, they could keep him on a low salary and continue to work on signing Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland, although that would be dangerous business given how much the Brazilian could seen be worth on the market, it is imperative to keep him happy and tied to the club.

The relationship at the present moment between the player and the Spanish club is excellent, his message to Brazilian television will go down well with those in power at Valdebebas, although they had hoped to wait until next season to complete the next raft of contract extensions.

Vinicius Jr is very grateful to Real Madrid for trusting him at just 16 years of age, paying 45 million euros to Flamengo for his services and he now wants to repay them.
