Vinicius' magic touch

Vinicius Junior has had a knack for being at the heart of decisive moments so far this season, with his latest contribution being a late winner in Real Madrid's 2-1 triumph against Sevilla on Sunday, November 28.

As the game entered its final knockings, with the game tied at 1-1, Vinicius stepped up and scored a stunning goal in the 87th minute to secure all three points for Real Madrid.

The 21-year-old's latest goal has added to his impressive collection that he has so far this season - his strikes against Shakhtar Donetsk, Elche and Levante come to mind - as he continues to prove that he can score goals of any calibre.

A new hero at the Bernabeu

The Real Madrid fans have certainly noticed Vinicius' improvements to his game and recognised this in their most recent game against Sevilla by chanting his name and giving him an ovation as he was withdrawn in second-half stoppage time.

His ability to remain focused throughout games this season and convert the pivotal chance was seen by all against Sevilla. Last night saw what was likely to be his best game for the club, and he was awarded man of the match for his efforts.

Vinicius only had two shots on target in the game, but took the most important opportunity in impressive fashion. In doing so, his contributions have come at key moments in LaLiga Santander and the Champions League too, with his latest goal giving Real Madrid a four-point cushion at the top of the table.

Vinicius' transformation

To note the way in which Vinicius has improved his game from last season alone is impressive to say the very least.

At times last season his movement would see him create great opportunities for himself to score, before inevitably putting the effort high over the bar or wide off the mark.

Whereas this season, Vinicius is able to get his efforts on target more consistently. In LaLiga Santander this season he has nine goals from 21 shots on target, giving him a goal every 119 minutes. A massive increase on his six goals in 49 games last year.

Confidence is key

There has never been any doubt Vinicius' ability, however his showings in recent years for Real Madrid will have left fans and himself feeling frustrated.

Since Carlo Ancelotti has come in, he has put every faith in the Brazilian and he his starting to come good from it. Seeing him at the heart of the action and coming up with the goods is very refreshing.

Now, the expectations have been set by Vinicius, so he will be looking to maintain consistency and be at the heart of a title-challenge for Real Madrid, as well as looking to guide them to the latter stages of the Champions League.
