Xavi to Barcelona LIVE: Al Sadd confirm move

With over a week having already passed since the sacking of Ronald Koeman, Barcelona are hoping to wrap up a deal with Xavi Hernandez to take over as head coach. The Blaugrana have been negotiating the transaction with Xavi's current club Al Sadd of Qatar, and are hoping that Friday, November 5, will be the day that they finally get it over the line.

10:50 CET: Al Sadd confirm Xavi's move to Barcelona

Al Sadd have confirmed that Xavi is departing the Qatari club to join Barcelona in a message on social media.

"The Al Sadd administration has agreed on Xavi's move to Barcelona after the payment of the release clause stipulated in the contract," read the post from club CEO Turki Al-Ali.

9:27 CET: Xavi's coaching staff

The Catalan media have suggested that Xavi has already decided his coaching staff that will assist him at Barcelona. Oscar Hernández and Sergio Alegre will be the two working closest with the former midfielder, Ivan Torres will be the fitness coach, Carlos Nogueira the physio and David Prats, Toni Lobo and Sergio Garcia will be the scouts.

8:30 CET: Al-Sadd don't want to speak with Barcelona

Joan Laporta has not travelled to Doha to negotiate for Xavi and the Qatari club was not willing to meet the Barcelona contingent made up of Rafa Yuste and Mateu Alemany. We will see today if they are more open to talking with Barcelona's representatives.
