Mbappe's potential visit to the Bernabeu ahead of summer move

Kylian Mbappe will be free to sign a pre-contract with Real Madrid from January 1, which means that he could potentially face his new team in the Champions League knockout stages.

Both Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain have made it through to the last 16, with Los Blancos clinching top spot and the Ligue 1 side finishing second in their respective groups.

Hence, in the draw that will take place on Monday, the LaLiga Santander giants could potentially get Mbappe's PSG. The Frenchman's current deal is set to expire in the summer, with Los Blancos leading the race to sign him on a free transfer after failing to do so last summer.

A match with a lot of connections

Real Madrid have not ruled out signing Mbappe in January, but this scenario seems unlikely to occur. Meanwhile, should they get PSG in the last 16, Los Blancos will also face former wing-back Achraf Hakimi and former goalkeeper Keylor Navas, as well as ex-Barcelona captain Lionel Messi.

PSG failed to clinch top spot in Group A, as Manchester City finished top with one game in hand after beating the Ligue 1 side 2-1 in the penultimate game of the group stage.
