Kevin Durant fined $25,000 for telling Nets fan to 'shut the f--- up and sit down'

On Friday, the NBA fined Brooklyn Nets forward Kevin Durant $25,000 for "directing obscene language toward a fan," announced President of League Operations Byron Spruell.

The incident occurred Wednesday, March 16 at Barclays Center in the Nets' 113-111 loss to the Dallas Mavericks. With 9.4 seconds left to play, a Brooklyn fan sitting courtside yelled at KD, "Kevin, you gotta take this game over."

Durant instantly turned around to look at the fan and replied with, "You got to shut the f--- up and sit down." The fan seemingly did not expect such a hostile response from Durant, as he can be heard saying, "Woah," in the video clip.

KD later quote-tweeted the video clip, captioning a meme with, "Damn smh."

Kevin Durant's history of fines

Durant has a long history of fines due to directing profanity at fans. The latest incident occurred December 2021 when the NBA fined him $25,000 after a fan told KD to 'stop crying' and the 33-year-old basketball star responded with, "Shut yo ass up motherf-----."

That courtside fan was an Atlanta Hawks supporter who got the best of Durant despite the Nets winning 113-105. Video of the interaction gained traction on social media, and even though the audio is a bit distorted, it was anough for the league to slap KD with the $25,000 fine.
