Salah's Real Madrid nightmare continues

When Liverpool met Real Madrid in the 2018 Champions League final, it was a particularly difficult night for Mohamed Salah.

Not only did Los Blancos win 3-1, but the Egyptian was forced off after half an hour with a dislocated shoulder.

After Liverpool reached this year's final by beating Villarreal, Salah spoke about how much he wanted to face Real Madrid in the final.

"I want to play Madrid," Salah told BT Sport.

"We lost in the final against them, so I want to play against them and hopefully win it from them as well."

However, Salah's nightmare continued at the Stade de France on Saturday night, as Real Madrid won 1-0.

What's more, he was unable to find a way past Thibaut Courtois, as the Belgian denied him with a series of stunning saves.

The best of these saves came in the late stages of the game, as Salah burst through on goal before unleashing a fierce right-footed drive, but Courtois threw out a hand to tip Salah's effort round the post.

It was an astonishing save from Courtois, and the goalkeeper spoke about it at full-time.

"[Mohamed] Salah's, I looked for it from distance, and I knew where the ball was going," Courtois said.

"It's crazy, I don't believe it."

Egypt and Ballon D'Or disappointments

Whilst there have been many highs for Salah this season, there have also been a number of lows.

Egypt lost the Africa Cup of Nations Final against Senegal, before defeat against the same opponent saw them miss out on qualification for the World Cup.

Liverpool missed out on the Premier League title by just one point, on a thrilling final day against Manchester City.

Salah ended the season as joint-top scorer in the Premier League alongside Heung-min Son with 23 goals, and he also won the award for most assists in the Premier League, with 13.

He lifted the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup, but he was unable to add the Champions League to that list on Saturday night.
