DK Metcalf makes history with the largest signing bonus for a wide receiver in NFL history

Three years and $72 million, that's the deal wide receiver DeKaylin Zecharius "DK" Metcalf reached to renew his contract with the Seattle Seahawks, making him one of the highest paid players at his position in the NFL.

According to information published Thursday by NFL Network reporter Mike Garafolo, DK Metcalf reached an agreement and will begin his fourth season in the league with good news after a very tense negotiation period with the team that let Russell Wilson go to the Denver Broncos this offseason.

DK Metcalf's contract details

Regarding the player himself, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Metcalf is guaranteed $58.2 million over those three years, $30 million of which is a signing bonus.

DK Metcalf is just 24 years old and has played three seasons with the Seattle Seahawks, a team with which he has played 49 games, in which he has had outstanding numbers, 216 receptions for 3,170 yards and 29 touchdowns.

The signing bonus of $30 million is the highest in history for a player at his position. At the end of his contract, in 2026, he will be 27 years old and will have the possibility of negotiating again with the Seahawks or seeking a better offer.

Metcalf is among the top five highest paid receivers

With the salary he will receive, about $24 million average for each of the three seasons, the Ole Miss graduate is among the top five paid receivers in the NFL.

In addition, the agreement they reached puts an end to a contract dispute between the player and his team, as the wide receiver was asking for a new contract. He was present at the start of the mini-camp, but did not participate in the club's practices.

The pressure paid off, as the Seahawks reached an agreement with him, one of the most important players on the team.
