Armband controversy rages on: England assumes they will be sanctioned for rainbow symbol

Harry Kane, England's captain at the World Cup in Qatar, will wear the rainbow armband in support of the LGTB community, a decision that will likely cost him a fine.

Mark Bullingham, CEO of the English Football Association, gave his thoughts on the matter.

"They have not responded to our request to wear the armband," Bullingham said on Sky.

"It is possible that we will be sanctioned. If so, we will pay the penalty."

Sanction in sight

The decision to wear the armband remains controversial. Although the majority of his countrymen support the decision, that does not mean that it does not involve a financial penalty.
