Christian Pulisic is so underrated...

In what was a match that could have given us the first team to qualify for the round of 16, England couldn't find a way past the United States.

After a convincing win over Iran, The Three Lions showed their shortcomings once again as Gareth Southgate couldn't get the most out of his attack.

Christian Pulisic, meanwhile, was one of the best players on the pitch, with the result meaning England will look to book their spot in the next round against Gareth Bale's Wales.

Christian Pulisic is so underrated...

Bukayo Saka, Mason Mount, Raheem Sterling, Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham all started, underlying the options available to Southgate.

Things worked well during the opening 30 minutes, but when the US started to tighten up a bit their defensive prowess began to disappear.

Mount was very poor, Kane put his heart and soul into the game, Bellingham wasn't inspired and Saka's game was all but over after a quarter of an hour.

By the way, does anyone know where Sterling was? The Chelsea star came off in the 70th minute, but you wonder why it wasn't even sooner.

Christian Pulisic is so underrated...

The main star for the United States was none other than Pulisic. The 24-year-old is the real leader of Gregg Berhalter's side and his powerful shot against the crossbar in the 32nd minute, when his team was struggling, served as a wake-up call.

From that moment on, the United States began to believe in their own 'American dream' at Al Bayt.

Weston McKennie was also very good, a constant hammer on his flank, and Jordan Pickford had a lot more work to do than Matt Turner, as only a lack of American aim prevented England from falling.

Players like Jordan Henderson, Jack Grealish and Marcus Rashford came on to shake up the game and restore some order for England, but they had no effect whatsoever.

Southgate's squad, in terms of names, is one of the strongest. However, the United States showed that he still has a lot of work ahead of him if he wants to get his team beyond the round of 16 in Qatar.
