LeBron James injury update: huge blow for Lakers

Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James will reportedly miss an "indefinite amount" of time after suffering a right foot injury during the team's incredible comeback victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

James, 38, was caught on the national broadcast late in the third quarter telling his teammates that he heard something "pop."

He continued playing in the match and scored 11 more points after the apparent injury, which head coach Darvin Ham said he knew nothing about.

After the contest, James was spotted limping out of the arena, but fans were happy he didn't need a boot or crutch. Charania's report dampens the mood of all Purple & Gold fans amid a three-game winning streak.

"Sources: There's fear Lakers star LeBron James is likely to miss an extended period of time with his right foot injury," Charania tweeted. "James suffered the injury in Sunday's win over Dallas, played through it, and belief is he will be sidelined an indefinite amount."

LeBron James ruled out vs. Grizzlies

James is officially ruled out of Tuesday's game against the Memphis Grizzlies.

Lakers have just over 20 games to play down the final stretch of the regular season and continue to inch closer into playoff territory.

Losing James for any amount of games could be detrimental to the franchise's postseason hopes unless Anthony Davis steps up as the team leader in his place.

D'Angelo Russell is also likely to miss the game against Memphis following an injury a couple games back.
