Swiatek Splits with Coach Fissette Days After Shocking Miami Exit
The world No. 3 confirmed the split on Monday via Instagram, revealing she had “decided to take a different path.” Swiatek and Fissette joined forces in 2024, a collaboration that culminated in her winning the Wimbledon title last year.
“I’m grateful for his support, experience, and everything we achieved together — including one of my biggest dreams in sport,” the 24-year-old Pole wrote.
The decision follows a difficult run in Miami, where Swiatek fell to world No. 50 Magda Linette in three sets. The loss marked a rare blemish for the six-time Grand Slam champion, snapping her remarkable streak of 73 consecutive opening-round wins on tour.
“Miami was challenging for me,” Swiatek said. “I feel disappointment, bitterness and responsibility for my performance.”
Despite the high-profile split, Swiatek noted that the rest of her team would remain unchanged. She added that she is taking time to “process this experience and prepare for a new chapter.”
Fissette, a veteran coach who has previously worked with Naomi Osaka, Kim Clijsters, and Victoria Azarenka, departs after a brief but successful tenure.
