Kane Expected to Be Fit for Bayern's Champions League Clash at Real Madrid

Harry Kane participated in Bayern Munich's training session on Monday and is expected to be available for Tuesday's Champions League quarterfinal first leg against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu.

The England striker missed Bayern's Bundesliga victory over Freiburg on Saturday after sustaining a minor ankle injury while training with the national team last week. His presence at Monday's session in Munich before the squad traveled to Spain suggests he will be fit to lead the line against the 15-time European champions.

Madrid coach Álvaro Arbeloa acknowledged the threat Kane poses. "Bayern is an unbelievable team," Arbeloa said. "They're having an exceptional season. I think Bayern has been the most consistent side in Europe this season. They're fearless, aggressive, very focused defensively, with an unbelievable striker in Harry Kane."

Tuesday's match marks the sixth time in the past 14 seasons that Madrid and Bayern have met in the Champions League knockout stages. Madrid has won four of the previous five two-legged ties, including three times in the semifinals, most recently in 2024. Bayern's sole victory came in the 2012 semifinals, which they won on penalties.

Bayern enter the match in formidable form, unbeaten in 13 games across all competitions with 11 wins. Madrid, meanwhile, suffered a 2-1 defeat at Mallorca on Saturday that dealt a significant blow to their La Liga title hopes.

"We don't think about not winning the tie," Arbeloa said. "There is only one possible scenario, which is to beat Bayern and get through the tie."

The Madrid coach also downplayed recent criticism of Kylian Mbappé, who has faced questions from some quarters following a controversial knee injury that has limited his playing time. "Mbappé knows perfectly well what Real Madrid is," Arbeloa said. "He's someone who has dreamed of being a Real Madrid player."
