Aaron Rodgers' broken toe didn't stop him from dominating Rams
Aaron Rodgers' toe injury was not a factor even on the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field as the Green Bay Packers dominated the Los Angeles Rams and despite a late comeback attempt, came away with a 36-28 win on Sunday.
Rodgers scored on the ground
Rodgers not only looked good with his arm, he opened the scoring by using his injured toe to take advantage of a loose ball to score on a one-yard touchdown run by speeding past star corner Jalen Ramsey.
Mason Crosby increased the home team's lead in the second quarter with a 45-yard field goal.
The Rams responded immediately with a 79-yard touchdown bomb from Matthew Stafford to speedster Van Jefferson.
After an exchange of field goals, Rodgers found Randall Cobb with a seven-yard scoring pass, but Stafford closed the deficit to three points before halftime with a six-yard pass to Darrell Henderson into the end zone.
The third quarter was all Green Bay who scored 16 unanswered points thanks to a five-yard touchdown pass from "A-Rod" to running back A.J. Dillon, a Rasul Douglas interception to Stafford returned 33 yards to the promised zone (missed two-point conversion) and Crosby's third field goal of the day, this one a 29-yarder.
"OBJ" first touchdown as a Ram
With one quarter to play and the score against 36-17, Los Angeles reacted and finally Odell Beckham Jr. scored his first touchdown in a Rams uniform thanks to a spectacular 54-yard long pass.
The score was capped by a 39-yard field goal by Matt Gay, then the Californians tried a short kick that they could not recover.
Rodgers finished the game with 307 yards by completing 28 of 45 passes.
What's next?
The Packers quarterback will be able to take a much-needed week off as Green Bay's (9-3) next game is Dec. 12 when they host the Chicago Bears on Sunday Night Football.
For their part, the Rams (7-4) will have a very good chance to break a terrible three-game losing streak when they host the weak Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, December 5.
