Bale and Real Madrid: The final countdown

Seven and a half months remain for the relationship between Gareth Bale and Real Madrid to draw to a close, as the Welshman's contract expires on June 30.

Bale joined Los Blancos back in 2013, with his spell at the LaLiga Santander giants having gone through several ups and downs, including spectacular moments of football and controversial incidents.

The Wales international has always been considered by the club to be one of the finest players who have ever plied their trade at Real Madrid.

But it's the end of the road for Bale and Los Blancos. The former Tottenham Hotspur forward would have already departed the club last summer, had there been a team who were interested in acquiring his services.

Carlo Ancelotti has stood by Bale, who has been at the receiving end of criticism for his inconsistency in recent years, and the Italian coach is willing to give him opportunities when he is fully fit.

Bale picked up an injury that has sidelined him since September, just after returning from international duty.

Although he hasn't returned to action for Real Madrid since suffering that knock, the 32-year-old winger was called up by Wales for the upcoming international break and the national team's doctors will assess whether he is fit enough to feature against Belarus and Belgium.

The club are aware that Bale has a special connection with the Welsh national team and won't stand in his way in the event he wants to play during the international break.

They only hope that he doesn't pick up another knock in the November international break, as Ancelotti counts on him and he is willing to give him playing time.
