LeBron James vs. Isaiah Stewart Round 2
When you hear the name Isaiah and associate it with the Detroit Pistons, it is absolutely impossible to forget Hall of Famer Isaiah Thomas, but today that name and the last name Stewart is the one on every NBA fan's mind.
For the second consecutive Sunday, Los Angeles Lakers and Detroit Pistons face each other in the 2021 NBA season, a week ago the Lakers won, however, that was the least of it, the note was given in the third quarter, when star LeBron James delivered an elbow in the eye of the Pistons center Isaiah Stewart that sparked a pitched battle that generated the expulsion and suspension of both players.
A week later, the two are starting for their respective teams at the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, California in what is yet another chapter in one of the historic rivalries of the best basketball in the world.
Magic vs. Isaiah
It should be remembered that these two teams faced each other consecutively in the 1987-1988 and 1988-1989 seasons, with the Showtime Lakers winning in seven games in the first and the Bad Boys sweeping the second.
This series of games created a feud between the star players of both teams, Magic Johnson and Isaiah Thomas, which caused that, among other things, Thomas was not considered for the "Dream Team" of the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games.
Kobe and Shaq couldn't beat Detroit
The Finals rivalry was renewed in the 2003-2004 season when the "Motor City" team pulled off one of the biggest surprises in history by defeating the Lakers, who had Shaquille O'Neal, Kobe Bryant, Karl Malone and Gary Payton, 4-1.
After that, the Pistons have become one of the worst teams in the NBA but this scandalous fight between LeBron James and Isaiah (he had to have that name) Stewart make us remember those chapters.
