Mike Tyson reveals which current boxer would defeat Canelo Alvarez

After David Benavidez defeated Caleb Plant at the end of March, he now has his sights set on one goal, to go after Canelo Alvarez.

The Mexican-American fighter has earned the chance to fight for the super middleweight championship, and he sent a message to Canelo after his victory in Las Vegas.

"I have a lot of respect for him, but he has to give me a chance at a fight as that's what everyone wants to see in September," Benavidez declared.

"While I don't think he's trying to avoid me, he has no other options."

After the fighter's statements, an authoritative voice on the sport came out to back him up. This was none other than Mike Tyson, who believes Benavidez can beat anyone, including Canelo.

"Benavidez is my guy, I think he can beat anybody in the division," Tyson told Boxing Arabia.

"I love Canelo, but he's not going to beat him. He's a little past his prime.

"I think he Benavidez could even beat the guy who beat Canelo, Dmitriy Bivol."

Final stretch for Canelo Alvarez vs John Ryder

Meanwhile, Canelo Alvarez has just arrived in Guadalajara to finalize his fight next Saturday against John Ryder, the 34-year-old British fighter, at the Akron Stadium.

The bout will be Alvarez's second defense since winning all the super middleweight titles, and will be his first on Mexican soil since defeating Kermit Cintron in November 2011 at the Plaza de Toros.
