Warriors fans show love to Jordan Poole, then boo him for rest of Wizards loss
Washington Wizards guard Jordan Poole returned to Chase Center on Friday for the first time since the Golden State Warriors traded him. Home fans showed their former star some love during a tribute video, but then forgot he ever played there.
Poole, 24, looked happy during the pregame warmup when he said hello to Stephen Curry. The fact that Draymond Green is suspended and was not there made the night more special.
Green, 33, punched Poole last season and that relationship was never mended. Now that Draymond is suspended due to multiple incidents of violence, fans might be wondering if Golden State traded the wrong player.
Poole scored 25 points on 7-for-21 shooting in the Wizards' 129-118 loss and shot 3-for-12 froom deep, so maybe they made the right move.
He scored an 18-foot jumper to open the score and then missed the next five shots from beyond the arc before making one. Poole has been struggling mightily this season and Warriors fans booing him every time on the free throw line did not help.
Steve Kerr praises Jordan Poole
Warriors head coach Steve Kerr praised Poole prior to the game and explained why he knew the fans would welcome him with open arms.
"I think it will be a great night. I think Jordan will get a well-deserved reception from our fans that will reflect how much he meant to our team while he was here," Kerr said. "So I'm excited for Jordan and it will be good to see him on a personal level as well. I know a lot of our guys are excited to see him."
Curry, 35, scored a season-high eight 3-pointers for 30 points just a couple games after going scoreless from deep for the first time in a long time.
